Large portions, authentic Mexican food. What more can you ask for?

The food is great.. this is some of best mexian food i have ever had..it looked to me like a husband & wife own & run the place. The only down side is parking there sucks.. also the neighbor is very bad.. we went for dinner and had to walk after finding a place to park. Everyone we saw on the street there looked shady to say the least. But the food was so good we go back. But next time it will be a lunch time, when its safer. If they move to a better spot , it will be a huge hit

This place is awesome! Salsa and guacamole are always fresh. I wish more people knew about this place because in my opinion its better then its competition. I love the location, (being right down the street from my house) The portions are huge!

After finding Zapata while searching under "Cheap Eats" on Yelp I was happy to see that it was a 5 minute drive from my house Yeah! My hubby and I went here last Saturday around 7ish and were surprised to be the only couple in the restaurant. We were greeted immediately by the only server working. She instantly brought over complimentary chips and salsa and gave us time to look the menu over. Chips were great. Salsa was decent but I like mine chunky and theirs is sauce only. We decided to try the appetizer sampler and each picked a taco. I had the Chicharron with a hard shell. It was DELISH! The meat was fried to perfection and juicy. I really can't remember what was the name of the taco thing my husband ordered but he ate it in 2 seconds and kept contemplating whether to order another if he had room so I know it was good. You know that moment when you have to share a dish and keep hoping that your dining partner won't enjoy it so you can have it all to yourself.... Well that was me with the oddly amazing wings in the sampler platter. Who would have thought that Mexican wings would be to die for? The seasoning that they use was peppery and salty with just the right amount of spice. No sauce needed for these babies. The platter also came with stuffed jalapenos, empanadas, and taquitos. I loved everything and would definitely order all of it again. To wash everything down I had a glass of the House Sangria. WOW! It was so refreshing and the fruit was very fresh. The glass was huge and only $4.50. My guy had the large chocolate shake and loved it. They use a lot of ice which was nice because it was thin and light enough to drink with such a heavy meal. A few other couples came in though out the evening so it was nice to not be the only people in there. Service was fast and friendly. Parking is street only so it's first come first serve. They open early for breakfast and I'm sure I will try that soon. I'm so glad to have found this little gem. Thanks Yelp for another great recommendation.

I was really really hoping this would become my favorite Mexican restaurant, unfortunately I was let down. I'm not sure if I just caught them on a bad night but the food took 40 minutes just for take out. I ordered 4 chicken tacos and nachos. The tacos were okay, soggy. Chicken seemed fresh. The salsa was almost soupy, looked like tomato soup. All in all not a great experience. Maybe add 1 or 2 more staff members?

A little disconcerting at first because there were no other customers there at 12:30 pm, but I'm glad we decided to give it a try. We all ordered separate items and no one was disappointed. The presentation was good. The food was plentiful & delicious.

Sadly the last two visits had a down turn in food quality. I'm sure it's difficult to keep up when your a small place. Chips were stale :( I'm sad because I won't be giving it a third second chance.

Stopped in here after friends recommendation. Pretty good burrito. Too much rice though. The chips were great, fresh and hot! Salsa was tasty. Very "mom and pop" and friendly. Update: Ate here again. Even better this time! Check out the pictures!

This place is awesome! Food is always great. Large portions, I love the bistec a la Mexicana. Owner operated, the owner is very friendly. My family eats here often and I definitely recommend it if your looking for a low key Mexican Restaurant in Lake Worth.

We enjoyed our tacos, enchiladas and chicken mole. You can't beat it. Chicken soup is a must. I was sick, stuffed up, couldn't breathe when I came in for our first visit. I was clear by the next morning. I had to come back in to thank them!

I was hoping for real authentic yummy food without having to wait in the tacos al carbon line, we found....almost that. Good prices for food, a few 2.00 soft tacos with authentic fillings, 595 for a chilli relleno lunch platter rice refried beans and "salad" (consisted of shredded ice berg and one perfectly ripe tomato) Sangria was yummy, lunch for two came out to an even 30 with tip, not too shabby. I did enjoy the home made tortillas, however the regular salsa left something to be desired, very ketchup-y, make sure you mix in the hot sauce for flavor.

The best chili rellenos I ever had. Love the tostadas, also the sopas. Reasonable prices, Combination dinners are AWESOME. Staff friendly, love the salsa and fresh tortilla chips. OH and they make their own tortillas there. Been going there a long time. I am going there tomorrow!!!

I've now eaten here 3 times and will definetly go back. When you're tired of Taco Bell and Chipotle Grill and other TexMex abominations come here for tasty Mexican food. Try Siete Mares soup for a Mexican take on boullibaisse. Tamales, burritos, gorditas and Sopes very good. My wife had Chiles Rellenos and I had Mole con Pollo, both were delicious. Portions generous and service attentive. Flan is homemade. Nice assortment of Mexican beer. All in all a well run, clean restaurant that serves authentic fare.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
